Questions about STEP to GLB

Is STEP to GLB free?

Yes. It is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often.

Are my files uploaded?

No. It runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else. Privacy notice

Which files can I use?

STEP, and other 3D models in, GLB out. Up to 60 MB per file, 50 files at a time, 50 megapixels.

Step by step, and if something goes wrong

Steps

  1. Add one or more STEP files (other 3D formats work too).
  2. Choose the orientation and size options if you need them.
  3. Select Convert to GLB, then download each file or all of them as a ZIP.

If something goes wrong

  • GLB opens in browsers, PowerPoint and AR apps, so clients can see a part without CAD software.
  • STL and PLY files from CAD and 3D printing usually have Z pointing up. Choose Stand upright when converting them to GLB or USDZ.
  • STL files have no units. For AR, choose Millimetres to metres if the model was made for 3D printing, or it will appear 1,000 times too big.
  • STL, OBJ and PLY keep the shape only. GLB and USDZ also keep colours and textures.
  • STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, PLY, GLB and FBX files are opened on this device. Nothing is uploaded.
  • STEP and IGES are read by OpenCascade in a separate, sealed-off worker; the first one loads about 8 MB from this site.
  • GLB files must be self-contained. Files that use Draco or meshopt compression aren’t supported yet.
  • FBX textures stored as separate files aren’t included; the shapes still convert.
