Step by step, and if something goes wrong

Steps

  1. Add one or more 3D models.
  2. Select Measure.
  3. Read the size, triangle count, surface area, volume and whether the model is watertight.

If something goes wrong

  • Watertight means the surface is closed with no holes, which 3D printers need. Volume is only reliable for watertight models.
  • STL, OBJ and PLY don’t store units. Sizes are in the file’s own units, usually millimetres for 3D printing. GLB is always in metres.
  • STL, OBJ, PLY, GLB and FBX files are opened on this device. Nothing is uploaded.
  • GLB files must be self-contained. Files that use Draco or meshopt compression aren’t supported yet.
  • FBX textures stored as separate files aren’t included; the shapes still convert.
