Privacy notice
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This page is a draft based on how the site works today. It has not yet been reviewed by a legal professional.
FilePDQ is designed to collect as little information as possible. This notice describes what actually happens today. It will be updated before any tool that changes this opens.
Files you use with our tools
Each tool page says where processing happens before you add a file:
- In your browser (every tool available today): the file is read and processed by your own device. It is not uploaded to us or to anyone else. Finished results are kept in your browser for up to one hour so you can continue an interrupted download, then deleted automatically (see cookies and storage).
- On our server (not used yet): the file would be uploaded, processed, made available for you to download, then deleted. The retention period will be stated here before any such tool opens.
- By an external service (not used yet, for example AI photo colourisation): the file would be sent to a named third party. We will name the service and link to its terms before you upload.
We do not use the contents of your files for analytics, advertising or training.

Visitor analytics, only if you allow it

Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time on the cookies page or with “Privacy choices” at the bottom of every page. See Vercel’s analytics privacy policy.
